Our Practice

Springfield Animal Hospital was founded in the early 1960's by the late Dr. Glen Noffsinger and was then known as Noffsinger Animal Hospital. In July of 1990, Dr. Michael Bissell purchased the hospital and soon after changed the name to Springfield Animal Hospital.

Our veterinary practice has undergone changes and improvements throughout the years in keeping with the many ongoing advancements in veterinary medicine. We focus on providing the highest quality medical and surgical services for your companion animals. Springfield Animal Hospital is a long-standing AAHA-accredited practice.

What does it mean to be AAHA accredited?

Veterinary hospitals are not required to be accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA); it is optional.

"Veterinary hospitals are evaluated on approximately 900 standards of veterinary excellence in order to become accredited. AAHA-accredited hospitals are recognized among the finest in the industry, and are consistently at the forefront of advanced veterinary medicine. Our Standards of Accreditation are continuously reviewed and updated to keep our accredited practices on the cutting edge of veterinary excellence. Our standards address patient care and pain management, surgery, pharmacy, laboratory, exam facilities, medical records, cleanliness, emergency services, dental care, diagnostic imaging, anesthesiology, and continuing education. To maintain accredited status, hospitals undergo comprehensive on-site evaluations every three years."
